Regarding: Past, Family, Social History

Can an Attending Physician from one specialty refer to another Attending's note in a different specialty?

ie - Urology Attending referring to Neonatology Attending's note
Social History: Please see Primary service note for complete details completed by John Doe, MD on 6/15/2017
Family History: Please see Primary service note for complete details completed by John Doe, MD on 6/15/2017

I believe as long as it is a specific record, and that record does not reference another record, then yes. The expectation is that when referenced, the record has the required information.
