Do you know if I am doing a tendon repair or something unrelated to the median nerve, but I need to do a carpal tunnel release ONLY to get exposure in order to repair the tendon, can I code for an open carpal tunnel release?

.... the procedures are exactly the same, its just that carpal tunnel release is normally done to relieve pressure on the Median nerve, but in my case, I had to do it for exposure of a lacerated tendon (which is normal/standard of care to do a carpal tunnel release to get exposure in this case)

This question was posed to me by my hand surgeon. Can anyone help me with a response?

No, the carpal tunnel release would be bundled to the repair.
