Has anyone seen an issue with DSM V codes being cross walked to ICD 10 diagnosis codes? Does CMS have any guidelines on DSM V codes cross walked to ICD 10 Diagnosis codes?

Here is an example:
The provider documents Opioid Use, Severe but the DSM V code cross walks to Opioid Dependence based on the Severe being documented. If Medicare reviews the note based on ICD 10 the diagnosis code would not be supported. Has anyone seen an issue related to this?

Hi there,

I have not had anyone complaining of denials due to this... I would advise to code directly from the documentation in the record instead of relying on the crosswalks.
