Hello,

In regards to E/M services, if a provider orders a lab test/imaging that is strictly for a screening purpose would you count these lab test/imaging towards the Data to Be Reviewed or Ordered in Box B.
Example would be: cholesterol screening, mammogram, DEXA, etc.

1997 Documentation Guidelines for Evaluation and Management Services
AMOUNT AND/OR COMPLEXITY OF DATA TO BE REVIEWED
The amount and complexity of data to be reviewed is based on the types of diagnostic testing ordered or reviewed.

This is credit for the work or ordering or reviewing a lab therefore the reason would not preclude it.
